Sears? I imagined him in Regis Galerie at the Venetian. Probably looking for some Capodimonte Cupids

"Oh you need us again Mick?"
A while back I read an Q&A with Rick where he says he was really uncomfortable. He had already quit the band. Billy prevailed upon him to be a guest for this appearance on a one-off basis.

Amazingly, other than marching bands, Michael Jackson in 1993 was the first musical artist to do the halftime show as the sole performer. In 1988-92 Chubby Checker, Irma Thomas, New Kids On The Block, and Gloria Estefan did it, but only among a number of non-pop/rock performers. Before 1988, it was almost entirely marching bands and other non-pop/rock acts.

It wasn't until after Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" in 2004 that the norm became a single halftime performer, starting with Paul McCartney in 2005. Again other than marching bands, before then it was always multiple performers – with the three exceptions of Michael Jackson (1993), Diana Ross (1996), and U2 (2002).

In 2006 (or there around), Stevie Nicks without Fleetwood Mac performed "Stand Back" during pre-game festivities.

Yes, he said I really didn't feel comfortable doing it at first since I was not in the band at the time, but Billy really wanted me to. That's the last time I played with the Mac as a group.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I can understand his feeling. He sort of felt like a replacement guitarist/member again. They were asked to stand down for the inaugural. But when needed again, he's asked back for a performance.
I admire his teamwork because many would say "go pound sand."

Yes, and that shows how good friends he and Billy are. Otherwise he wouldn't have accepted.

But I'm curious, artists who perform at Super Bowl, receive any remuneration? I think so, but since playing in that kind of event is a huge marketing opportunity, I'm not sure. I wonder how Rick negotiated, and with whom (Mick? a manager?).
