It's pretty much the only Fleetwood Mac album I listen to these days.

I know. Isn't that strange how much of a bad taste Lindsey's firing has left in our mouths. And not just Lindsey fans, but generally fans of FM. I listened to BuckVie a few weeks ago and thought to myself, this will be the last FM related album that I'll have any interest in. Yeah, I guess you could say that most of the members that we've lost respect for are on it. But I look at it as what could have been before things went off the cliff. I also got a FM fix, if you will, by recently listening to Bob Welch's 'His Fleetwood Mac Years & Beyond'. Icing on the cake is that it is one of the limited edition signature series copies! So pull out all those solo endeavors by Bob, Danny, and Peter to get through these hard times. |

It was very surprising. Not as surprising as the time the local record store I went to was playing Billy's cover of Ring Of Fire many years ago but still surprising.

Next time Christine is shopping for toothpaste, she might hear her own tune.

Not sure how many of you listen to the podcast "My Favorite Murder," but a few weeks ago, they aired a live show from Milwaukee. During the introduction where the two women are just chatting before getting into their stories, they're talking about how the tour has gone and what traveling the country has been like. After telling a story about eating at a Cracker Barrel, Karen Kilgariff said (for reference, the podcast is hosted by Karen, Georgia Hardstark, and Steven is the name of their production assistant):
"So, Steven planned my travel, and Georgia planned her own travel. So we ended up at different hotels, which is super weird and makes it look like we’re Fleetwood Mac and we hate each other. Like, that’s what I would think if I was like 'Oh, she’s staying there, and she’s staying there? Oh, this must be bad!'" Then later, when Georgia was telling a story about how she got ready for the show by putting make-up on in a Honda Civic on the way to the theater, Karen described her as the more "grounded" of the two of them. "You're the one that's grounded and real. You're the Christine McVie of this situation, for sure." For those interested in tracking it down, it's episode 181 Live at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. The Christine remark is around the 16-min mark and the Fleetwood Mac reference might be 5 or so minutes before that. |

I love it. It’s hard to know what casual fans perceive. We tend to read all of the interviews and histories. We know all of the idiosyncrasies. I didn’t know that everyone knew about the separate hotel thing.
And the Honda is like the old days when Christine was in the backseat, sitting on the instruments. |

Last night on the radio in the car I heard the unmistakable voice of Christine McVie singing a pre 1975 FM song. I had to Shazam it just to be sure. It was "Heroes Are Hard To Find." It was played on one of our oldies stations. They are always great at playing obscure things.

Depending on your station you will hear a lot of Beatles, a lot of The Rolling Stones. Before they were blacklisted, I could not listen to a country station without hearing the Dixie chicks twice an hour. Stations are different, but forget the radio. When you are just walking around in the world, in the grocery store, at the hairdresser’s, in a restaurant, is there ANY band or artist that you hear more than FM? I honestly don’t think so.
I feel certain things when I hear them everywhere. Right now I feel sad, angry, wistful by turns. And I always feel quite proprietary too. I wonder how THEY feel, when they’re out and about and hear themselves all over. |
