Almost six years to the day since I last posted here, but here goes...
I think this performance of 'Landslide' is the beginning of the choreography of public reconciliation. (I believe the private reconciliation has already happened, or is under way.) In this choice of song, choice of accompanist, decision to record and release the video, I don't see 'we go high', in the sense of being a retaliation in an ongoing battle. I see a signal that a peace treaty is coming. KB in particular has a little bit of a climbdown to do, having engaged her antagonists in public. That was COMPLETELY understandable and justified, btw. Don't come at me claiming I'm saying she was wrong. She. Was. Not. But their rhetoric - hers and LB's - is now about love, and forgiveness. And I think they're sincere about that. So prepare yourself. LB might not go back to the band, but there is going to be a rapprochement of some kind. Last edited by jellyman10; 05-21-2019 at 04:49 AM.. Reason: changed a word |

Why would they ask for forgiveness if they’re still claiming that what they did was the right thing to do for the band’s survival?

I don't think LB will ever be back in the band, but that's more because of the complications of who replaced him. I wouldn't be surprised if NF and MC would be more than okay with it if Chris or John said they wanted to retire, and then the 'new band' can quietly dissolve without anyone calling them out on it. I guess I think it's more about understanding. LB's big on that and I think SN also wants to move on, make peace before it's too late for either of them. They can agree to never see each other ever again, wish one another well, without being in a state of cold war. My hunch is that this 'Landslide' is the first move in making it known to the public that that's happened or is happening now. They're trying to move the fans' anger onto the same higher plane. Seems obvious to me. |

They also don't care about the fans' opinion, as long as they're still buying tickets. I wouldn't read much into this Landslide performance, really. Just another HS thing. Like many people have expressed here, it's a popular choice.

I don't read anything into LB not opening his mouth at that event. It was probably in the middle of a series of songs the chorus prepared and he exited quietly to keep the program flowing. This was about the high school graduates, not LB and he graciously got out of the way as soon as his bit was over. It seems clear he's coming to sit down next to Kristen to watch the rest of it.
(I realize he IS seeing a vocal specialist and therefore is having voice issues, but I would not expect him to speak in that particular clip either way.) |

Not less than to assume that because Lindsey's daughter performed Landslide, his father's ex bandmates are loving him again.

Nicks' last signal to Lindsey was loud and clear. She doesn't want to work with him anymore. She ruined her relationship with him and with his family forever. I'm sure she knew what she was doing the moment she orchestrated it. I'm concerned about Lindsey's health now. That's all I care about. Some fans are yearning for a reunion, just to see them all together for a last time. It won't change what they did to him. What Stevie specifically did to him. I'm sorry about all those shipper hearts, but it is what it is.

while i like your optimistic dreamy outlook, jellyman10, i see several things wrong with it -
you are looking for signals on the wrong side. LB was always open to reconciliation and forgiving those backstabbing evil people. he was always clear he loves them despite all their shortcomings. so Buck side is not where you should look for reconciliation signs. Mick and Stevie are the ones that need to grovel. in just a few short weeks your theory will unfortunately most probably be completely debunked, when Fakewoods start again with their ridiculous advertising of the current tour. if they do a complete 180 in their tone and start putting LB in the stars where he belongs all of the sudden, instead of pretending he's insignificant little wheel in the long history of FM machine, that you were somehow miraculously right.

sounds like you think that Stevie's recent pneumonia bout somehow made her foggy self-centered ignorant mind suddenly realize maybe there's hell where nobody cares if someone was a bigger commercial star, so now she all of the sudden has regrets? because she certainly didn't show any when Lindsey almost died or when she was turning 70 and instead of finally growing up decided it's the right time for a final stab.

Last night was epic. First time I’ve seen Lindsey play in the last 4 mos, all the while Leelee ending her high school career. AND she sings a little Landslide with her dad. I cried, I’ll admit it. Never know what’s ahead so enjoy the moment... definitely means something.

I was surprised, happily, that there were so many articles written about this performance.
I wish they would mention his "shelved" album so as to raise awareness of and interest in it. There is no telling what kind of release it will receive, so this type of awareness could stand in for extended touring. In the meantime, while his getting healthy, I can't help but think that the events of the last two years would probably be inspiring a LOT of feelings for songs that just could not be reflected in the shelved album. I believe we will be hearing more music, beyond the shelved album, from him, one way or another.

It's the other side that's made no such statements and doesn't appear to know or care how their remarks about him come across. And we have no idea how they're interpreting this high school performance. |
