To a courtroom with some lace and paper flowers
I think you'll find that SortaSavageLike was being humorous.

U damn well know that management and attorneys are only doing what you of your fellow band mates tell them to. An attorney just can't voluntarily, on their own, file a lawsuit in your behalf. |

I actually found it kind of interesting how they describe the band’s inner workings in the lawsuit. I would’ve thought a band as big and machine-like as FM would've operated in a much more formal and official manner. Instead, it seems like there’s not nearly as many legalities and organized guidelines as one would expect. With the exception of lots of message-sending through managers, it seems more like the band is fairly self-governed on unwritten rules they seem to have came up with decades ago and continue to follow based on good faith.

He seems to be suggesting that the various discussions and directions taken by the band are being heavily influenced by what corporate/legal/management etc. say or think, or second guessing about what they might say. And as for the center becoming impotent in these matters, that rings true, given the members' ages.

Lindsey has always been relatively private, cautious, and meticulous; and though he let down his guard last year by making the "close your eyes and take the money" critique when pressed by that journalist (which, as David has noted, could hardly be considered a firing offense anyway, considering the rock and roll context), one assumes that he still is still the same type of person. If so, I doubt that he's filed this suit in a flurry of passion and will live to regret it; rather, the band side has apparently handled everything since MusiCares in a very hamfisted manner and from the information available to us they are currently on the back foot. No doubt their aggressive statement in response to the Complaint was merely a PR/bargaining flourish, and they will be looking to settle, albeit at the cheapest possible amount. It will be a shame for us fans that the settlement amount will be confidential, thus making it difficult for the Stevie camp or Lindsey camp to say who "won". But specific terms aside, any settlement should be considered a "victory" for the Lindsey side of this shambles.

I was responding to Bandon's joking (?) suggestion that Lindsey file for Unemployment. It depends on how he pays himself. If he pays himself with a W-2 then he could file a claim for Unemployment. If it's a 1099 then no. It depends on what offers the most tax benefits. When they file there's probably a K-1.

The interesting part for me is that through discovery, we can find out a lot about the bands machinations. I did figure out that FM sets up a LLc for every tour for merch etc and has even sued some merchandisers. There's $$ in merch . Last edited by Newzchspy; 10-15-2018 at 07:52 PM.. |

I like that statement! TRUTH, FAIRNESS and CLOSURE! Hope they get everything they're seeking. Truth reaveled that Stevie overreacted and the band didn't have just cause to dismiss Lindsey. Fairness that Lindsey gets the money and goodwill he is entitled to for everything he's done to make FM what it is today. Closure that he never has to deal with FM again and can move on to his solo career and other musical collaborations full time. Less drama, no BS, and freedom. And that's NO JOKE! If you havent seen this before, take time to do the math in your own head and see just how much the artists get screwed when it comes time to divvy up the $$. Its a must read to give some insight into why Lindsey is doing what he's doing. I even recall Billy Corgan of the SP stating that he gets about 10 cents a song as writer , BUT a whole lot less than that as the recording artist because of the contract and the way its divvied up. https://www.salon.com/2000/06/14/love_7/ |

That surprises me. I guess that explains the Anoro commercial.
