Default Fleetmac Wood - BIG LOVE

Is anyone going to this? Has anyone been to the old London parties? It looks like a happy medium between NOTS and full-on club party.
------------------------------------------

Fleetmac Wood is a lovingly curated re-edit project and party dedicated to the music of one of the greatest bands of our time.

Our London parties are legendary and we are ecstatic to announce our first show in San Francisco – the birthplace of some of Fleetwood Mac’s most celebrated songs.

Our first party in East London 2012 was the launch party for Psychemagik’s remix of Dreams, which has become a sunset anthem all over the world. Many parties and festivals later we have a treasure chest of exclusive edits from the cream of AOR and Balearic producers.

If you’re not sure you like Fleetwood Mac, please don’t come. No really, don’t come. We’ll be overdosing on a feast of edits and originals (no cover versions permitted). This is an unadulterated, tunnel-visioned event, paying homage to the incredible musical journey that is Fleetwood Mac. From blues to rock, from country to stadium pop – the back catalogue is an endless source of delight to revisit and revel to – ALL NIGHT LONG.

Dress – Big Hair, Big Style, Big Love.
$10 advance or $15 on the door. http://bit.ly/1HZCNBi
A little taste of what our parties are like:

Fleetmac Wood: Creating the Perfect Dancing Atmosphere for Fleetwood Mac Songs

http://www.sfweekly.com/shookdown/20...wood-mac-songs

If you love Fleetwood Mac (and people that also love Fleetwood Mac), there’s no better place to find yourself this weekend than at Fleetmac Wood’s Running in the Shadows Disco night. Throwing its first party three years ago in London, Fleetmac Wood, consisting of DJs Lisa Jelliffe (Roxanne Roll) and Alex Oxley (Smooth Sailing), are set to unite the multi-generational fan base of the historic rock and roll band by playing only original, guest edits, and remixes of Fleetwood Mac classics.

Since then, the duo's sets have taken them around the globe and have ranged from a typical four-hour club night to playing a six-hour Burning Man set last year. We got a chance to ask Roxanne Roll about the DJ duo’s history, their favorite remix, and their musical mantra. Fleetmac Wood’s Running in the Shadows Disco takes place this Saturday, May 30, at Public Works Loft.

How was the Fleetmac Wood collective born?
I always loved surprising crowds with Fleetwood Mac in my DJ sets over the past 10 years, but it became increasingly clear to me that a night of only Fleetwood Mac would be an exciting and welcome experiment. It was in 2012 that a remix and edit community really grew on Soundcloud with producers sharing classic rock edits for the dance floor so it felt like the perfect time to create an edit project and an experience with my partner Alex. Our first party in a sweaty basement in East London was the launch for Psychemagik’s remix of “Dreams.” The atmosphere was incredible, more like a festival because people were there because of their love of the music, which is the best reason to be at a party.

Why the band Fleetwood Mac?
There’s such an incredible history with the band, from blues to rock to pop. They are essentially a super group of creative contributors that make for a varied soundtrack for a whole night of music. Here’s a genre of music that you are used to listening to in the car, with your parents, or at home suddenly in a club environment. Everyone has so many emotional connections to the songs that the party is a chance to really lose your self. It’s a celebration that involves a lot of dancing and singing along.

When did you decide to bring the party from London to the States?
We moved over here for work and then quickly discovered that Fleetwood Mac fans are the same fun partygoers that they are in the UK.

What's one of your favorite edits/remixes to play?
There’s so many great ones that we love but the “The Chain” remix by Antenna Happy is probably the apex of the night. It’s an acid-tinged disco anthem. We’re always looking for more edits and welcome anyone to send us one.

The event invite states, "If you’re not sure you like Fleetwood Mac, please don’t come. No really, don’t come." Do you guys find people that come that don't like Fleetwood Mac?
Only one really! She was quite angry and was demanding we play something else. We just laughed. We say that in the invite as it’s all about creating a singular atmosphere where everyone is there for the same reason. It’s a rare shared experience, like a festival or a concert, but within a club environment. Fleetwood Mac fans can find their people and just get on with dancing and enjoying themselves. By removing the people who don’t care, you are removing another onion layer of inhibition.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of throwing this party thus far?
We DJ other parties with other music but there is nothing like the celebratory atmosphere and pure joy that occurs at Fleetmac Wood. People go a little nuts in the best possible way. We keep doing it because it hasn’t got boring and people seem to need and crave the release. There’s a lot of smiles and dancing and we think that makes for a happier world.

What other destinations are you hoping to take this party?
We’re back at Glastonbury and Secret Garden in the UK this summer. Perhaps Australia later in the year. Who knows?

Lastly, what's Fleetmac Wood's musical mantra?
No cover versions. Nothing cheesy. Stagger the big hits throughout the night. Is it an interesting take on the original and would we dance to it?
