Barcelona is fantastic - be sure to visit the gothic quarter and of course all of Gaudi's weird and wonderful architecture.

They put on a superb firework display on New Years Eve!

Wish I was going with you, I'm dreading NYE!!!!!

I am so incredibly jealous... Barcelona is my dream vacation. Like others have mentioned, Gaudi's architecture is a big highlight of Barcelona. La Sagrada Familia is the crowning achievement of that. The Gothic Quarter is supposed to be incredible as well. Post some pics here when you return so the rest of us can live vicariously!

Thanks for the tips. I'm quite ignorant when it comes to place to visit in Barcelona, so am devouring the Lonely Planet guide as we speak. Will give a full report when I get home in the new year

Also, loads of great places to eat all along Las Ramblas, and it's a great atmosphere around there!
