the more you play, the better you get
Dear Mr Bassman,
You are no doubt correct that the longer Peter was playing with people the better he got just from a performance standpoint. I was making more of a mid-life comment about the relativeness in time. I certainly would give much credence to your personal , first hand observations of Peter during this period, as I have no such knowledge but only what little I have heard and what has been written to date. I too look forward to any insight you can give us fans and admirers of Peter during this or any period. oh, by the way, thanks for sharing your words. vinnie c |

apologies if I misconstrued your words, not intentional, I assure you. Peter definitely improved during my year with the band, apart from the odd regression, like the night in Germany when he sang no words to Need Your Love So Bad!! Frustrating, but not life changing. One thing that always amazed me was his voice, when I had to sound check him at a club with the previous incarnation of Kolors, I was surprised at how soft his voice was and that he attained those fantastic sounds with very little volume, I had always assumed that he was virtually screaming to create that raw blues sound, and he always seemed able to maintain this. Quite eerie in a way. Last edited by Bassman; 01-18-2011 at 08:58 AM.. |

Bassman, not to pre-empty your history...but how long were Kolors active?
Martin Celmins wrote that they broke up in fall 1984, but I have a concert recording from June 1985 and communicated with a guy who was at the gig and verified the date. |

Yes indeed, Martin was miffed that he did not speak to me before the book was published, his only contact for Kolors, was Whittaker, so there is only one view point. I was with the band from August 84 until August 85, the last gig being the festival in Tel Aviv, that was a flop, by then Emanuel had departed the band and there was another gig booked at the Mean Fiddler, but I have no idea if it came off or not, if it did Greg certainly did not play at it, I had to move on.

define flop?

Was it that the festival was just underattended or that the band was playing poorly. If it was the latter I would love to hear your opinion on the band dynamics and how the band worked together. Did Martin ever interview you anyway? vinnie c |

I was interviewed by Martin and provided him with the picture of the 84/85 line up for the "official version" of the biography, but I do not believe that he was able to change any of the text, probably due to cost. |

The youtube uploader for the Rockpalast venue has closed his account. So I thought it would be nice to upload it myself.
Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXt8D...ature=youtu.be |

Well. I deleted the show again because of audio missing on one channel. I fixed that and also turned up the volume. Then, when I started giving some information I ran into a question I should like to ask, especiallly for mr. bassman here.
The Rockpalast archives mentions line-up mentions Duban Laverde (aka Spartacus R) as bass player. I also have an audio where the presenter gives a short history of Peter Green and finishes his comments with the line-up. He also presents Duban Laverde as the bass player. However, since Kolors has some Osibisa roots, I wonder if the bass player might have been Spartacus R from Osibisa, whose real name was Roy Bedeau. Could it have been that Spartacus R was the bass player and the Rockpalast organisation wasn't aware of two of them and assumed it must have been Duban Laverde?????? I'd like to have this cleared up before uploading again. Last edited by Wouter Vuijk; 10-23-2012 at 06:30 PM.. |
