Collaborating Writers on "WTWCT" & "Come"
If you read the liner notes it credits Julian Raymond as a writer for WTWCT and Neale Heywood for Come.
I don't know the first guy but wasn't the second guy like a back up musician or something?

Yea, Neale Heywood played on LB's OOTC tour and also on The Dance.
I totally don't get these lyrics: "I said I was going to put God away she's been here a while, Living in the guest room I guess she goes in style, I said I was going to put God away but I just can't let her go" ?!?! Anyone help me on understanding this please! Any and all suggestions are welcome! |

I think he's calling Stevie "God"....DANG, I was supposed to write out my Come interp and I forgot...time slipped away from me. The lyrics "Living in the guest room I guess she goes in style" says to me that Stevie stays in a HOTEL ROOM and always goes in style as in has everything catered for her...her dogs are with her, she has her nag champa incense...etc...JMVHO tho!!
I think this song is about an affair between the two during the Dance era...a lot of peeps think so anyways, and this song REALLY makes me think it's true!! "Said I was gonna put God away, she's been here awhile" - He said he wanted to put Stevie and their relationship behind him which is WHY he left FM in 1987, they've been in FM and she's been near him in some way, awhile.

Gathering from what Lindsey said in Guitar World Acoustic, Come was probably among the group of songs co-produced by Rob Cavallo and mostly done before the Dance tour started (Bleed, Miranda, Come, Steal, Rover). Looking at how the production credits worked out, I'd guess that the songs that John Shanks had a hand in probably were the newest songs after the Dance (Peacekeeper, Whats the World Coming To). Just a guess.
Actually, I just remembered, that 1997 Rolling Stone cover article on the band mentioned Come and quote the lyrics, so yeah, that one was done before the Dance tour. But yes, Neale toured with Cradle and with the Dance tour. In his Q&A Neale mentioned having come up with a riff that Lindsey had built a song around, and that he was probably planning to include it on the album (GOS at that point). I guess it turns out is was Come! Julian Raymond, who gets co-writing credit on What's the World Coming To, is mostly a producer I think. He's worked with Cheap Trick and some others I can't remember right now.
