Default "What if..." -- alternate versions

As a collective group of what I presumably consider the biggest Fleetwood Mac fans around, I'm sure we've all considered the following questions. I want to know your responses! If you could magically unleash new, high quality recordings, tell me about what you'd choose as an alternative version of a released or unreleased song?

For example, I want an a capella version of "Crystal" with nothing but Lindsey and Stevie's voices together.

Also, I would have loved if "Smile At You" on Say You Will more closely resembled the angry version. And finally, I would KILL for a high quality version of the piano demo of "Silver Springs" that I requested a while ago.

I'd like soundboard quality shows to magically appear and fall into my lap of every show Fleetwood Mac ever played.

(or atleast for the entire Mirage tour)

LOL not like that will ever happen.

Hmmm great idea but I'll change that a little. I'd like a soundboard recording for every live performance of "Rhiannon", "Sisters of the Moon", and "I'm So Afraid", "Gold Dust Woman" and "Angel." Can't be too picky

Nail, do you have all the soundboards from 1982 that are circulating at least?

Here's what I know about from the sound mix board:

tour rehearsal 8-16-82
tour rehearsal 8-19-82 (with "Straight Back")
tour rehearsal ("Sisters of the Moon")
US Festival 9-05-82
East Rutherford 9-14-82 ("Sara")
Memphis 10-12-82
Baton Rouge 10-13-82 ("Sara," "Hold Me")
Baton Rouge 10-13-82 (entire show)
Denver 10-15-82
Oakland 10-20-82

I don't have quite all of those. Not sure if soundboard is the best word - for example my US Fest show is only B quality, even though, I guess, it is considered soundboard since it wasn't an aud. recording. Maybe I should change my first request to A+ quality. There are some very high quality aud. recordings out there.

Yep, the soundboard designation doesn't always mean the audio quality is fantastic. It only characterizes the technical method with which the performance was recorded -- direct line via the mix board, no mic.

Here's the best audio quality I have from my US Festival soundboard -- Dreams is the example:

There's also an audience recording of the US Festival. It runs all the way through Songbird.

Well, a pretty decent recording has surfaced of Fleetwood Mac's VERY FIRST gig, so anything's possible.

But, wouldn't the shows get kind of redundant during the Rumours (latter legs), Tusk, Mirage, The Dance & Say You Will tours?

I could see wanting shows back when each show was fairly fluid and song choices changed pretty much from show to show (from 1967-76)...but from the mid-summer of 1977 onwards, once the set was static, DAMN!!, it was static. Maybe having two or three recordings from different legs of each tour (when they'd tweak the set slightly...EVER SO SLIGHTLY) would be good, but jeez, from hearing recordings from The Dance and Say You Will tour, one would suffice just nicely.

When are you going to post FM's very first gig?
Also you have to admit that Rhiannon was performed differently every time they played it from 1975-1982.

It's readily available on line for those who search for it. And, it doesn't take much searching.

Ummm...disagree...it was played pretty much the same from show to show on a particular tour, but it had a slightly different arrangement each tour during those years.

I just realized you are not referring to the El Paso gig with Stevie and Lindsey.

Woah...that would be amazing.

Um...I would like the infamous 16 minute version of Sara...but produced exactly like the album version...NOT just the demo.

A nice, high quality version of If You Were My Love, ala Mirage Sessions, but taken to the next level, would be amazing.

I'd also request higher quality versions of Down Endless Street and You & I Part 1...but I guess they were B-Sides, correct? My 12-inch single is a misprint though...I have Part 2 instead. The versions I have are from the Tango Sessions, and I just feel like the quality could be better.

Two others I just thought of...

You Make Loving Fun with both the "it's all I wanna do" and "beginning to wonder why/feeling it's time to try" lines at the end.

Edge of Seventeen with "I know what it sounds like...when the doves cry" at the end, as an homage to Prince. Yes, I know, she hated Purple Rain and now they don't speak. I just always thought it would be the appropriate ending to that line. I sometimes sing it that way, and I always think...it must've crossed her mind...at least once.

Ooo...this is fun!

Ugh I TOTALLY want that version of "Sara".

I also want like a 15 minute long soundboard recording of a super emotional, coked out Rhiannon live. Like, 2 minutes of the verses and 13 minutes of "dreams unwind...", getting taken by the sky, listening to Stevie wail like a lunatic and finish the song crying....

Omg I'd give both of my kidneys for that.

With "Is this what you want?"...better than Mobile, AL 8-11-80

I'd keep at least one kidney, but still
