Default The Occupation Thread

I know most everyone has it in their profile, but I saw the legal professionals thread and thought we should all post what we do for a living. I checked and didn't think there had been one recently. Also if you are in school, tell what your major is or what you want to be when you grow up.

Anyway-I'm a dental Assistant. I have been at the same dental office for about 9 years. I started when I was about 19 and have been loving it ever since. I'll save you all from the disgusting nature of my job-but...it IS my favorite part When I was a kid I always thought I'd be a Veterinarian, but the teeth thing stuck. Guess I have plan B if saliva starts to bother me

Exclamation I was...

a QC/NDT (Quality Control/Non-Destructive Tech.) Technician until illness & stress put me on the shelf...Now I am a house-husband!

Recently I saw an ad for Halliburton Corp. needing QC/NDT techs., Some jobs require oversea travel to the Middle East...Uh, no thanks, I prefer to stay in USA, And preferably alive!

I am the local host for the NPR program All Things Considered. I do some daily reporting/stories on the side, but my main job is doing newscasts at the top and bottom of the hour, then filling in various breaks with weater, PSAs and underwriters.

I used to do more reporting, but ditched that when I moved to Colorado - so far I have to say I don't miss it much.

I enjoy my job a great deal and get paid to talk which is good. BUT I'm constantly worried about the future of radio, the future of NPR and all that jazz. There is a lot going on and it's somewhat scary - but I figure if it comes down to it I'll get a teaching certificate and be the journalism teacher in a middle or high school somewhere

^^^ I wish I was an editor.

My main work consists of dodging creditors. On the side I'm an admin and am in school, almost done, getting my paralegal degree. Doing hard law homework and stuff.

Well... I have been a production operator at a pharmaceutical company for quite a while... and I loved it, but I can't work the hours anymore, so I do desk work for production. I just handle all of their paperwork, and keep 'em out of a bind. I'm getting ready to start school, but I really don't know what for. I'm getting my pre req's out of the way first. I really want to go for nursing, but work will pay for me to go and major in chemistry. Plus, I can't see taking a year off work to do my clinicals for nursing... so it's looking more and more like chemistry. HHHMMMMM??? What to do?

Right now I am working as a barista in a coffee house- I received my degree in Psychology in 2004 and am starting graduate school in 3 weeks . I'm getting my masters degree in Clinical Social Work and hope to be a therapist when it's all said and done. My main area of interest is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and working with adult survivors of incest and/or child abuse.

It isn't, really. It's just that I've been doing it for so long. I think I'd like to retire!

I'm a supervisor at a healthcare billing office. I get to tell people what to do and be the big bad auditor for about a dozen people.
