Hmm, I don't know if this could be categorized as "off beat" but I'd have to say Soul Coughing. It's the kind of band that you have to listen to a few times before you get it. I have albums from them that I've heard a thousand times ver and can still hear new elements. Played them for a number of friend and only one...ONE... liked them. Anyone know their stuff?

My husband loves this band. I guess I zone out when he plays it because I honestly can't tell you one way or another if I like it

I shall give it an attentive listen and get back to you!

One of my favorite off-beat bands is Ween. Crazy kooky-but my kind of crazy kooky! I even have a snippet of them trying Tusk!

Oh. my. god. I was just listening to Ween this weekend! Have you heard Quebec? What a fantastic album that is! I've been listening to it at least 3 times a week, I don't know why but I'm on such a Ween kick these days!

Edit: See the Ween pic in my new sig? You inspired it!

latin playboys, anyone? It's a two album collaboration 'project' between members of Los Lobos and Mitchell Froom, got into them because I really like Los Lobos. Some pretty offbeat crazy stuff on those records, I'd say But very catchy in an odd way.

I haven't. Is that the new one? I thought I heard they had something new coming out. I haven't really kept up on them, but I have MUCH mad love for God Ween Satan, Pure Guava, and Chocolate and Cheese, especially GWS!
I mean how can you deny the poetry of 'You ****ed Up"? I can't tell you how many times those words have gotten me through some really difficult times. I should pick up some of their newer stuff.

And they're the local boys! They come from a town only about a half hour north of me! Love it when the local kids make you proud...

Fleetwood Mac.

I mean, come on! Frankenstein, a witch, an angsty ex-hippy, an English tea lady, and a drunkard with a penguin tattooed on his left arm?

Yeah right!
