Wow. Thanks for pointing this out. Its crazy how its never been re-released on CD. I never could understand why especially after the success of them with the Mac and solo stuff. I remember interviews Stevie would give interviews in the 1980s and she could not explain it either. She was not aware who owned what. I think even Lindsey hinted in the 1980s that "someday" it will happen.
It's one of the biggest mysteries in rock. When Christine released her solo album in 1984 she was irked that her Christine Perfect album was being re-released to capitalize on her success. I think she even joked and told people not to buy it. You would have thought with all the money they made one of them would have bought the rights decades ago.

I love this album. It's really really good.
Crystal (which is possibly my fav FM song) is my least favorite on the album. Frozen Love is my fav.

Races Are Run is probably my favorite song off Buck/Nicks. I really like the lyrics a lot. |

I adore this album, but not this version of Crystal. And Stevie's solo version is horrible. Having said that, I love the White album version.

I love the album immensely, but the anniversary brings up a bit more bittersweetness than usual. It's a bummer that the album hasn't been given its proper due. Of all things to fall victim to the worst run franchise in rock 'n roll, it's a shame that this album has to be one of them.
Given the recent events that have occurred, I'm pretty sure a release won't happen until they're both gone - if at all. We all know how amazing a proper release and tour/live component could be, it's a shame it will probably never happen. It's probably the biggest missed opportunity of 2013.

How it has never been rereleased to CD or on any streaming service is beyond me. They’re so dumb at business. Absolute morons. |

On this day...
Currently listening to it - and... Stevie and Lindsey both posted about it. Same post, same time and tagging each other.
That IS bitter sweet. |

When you listen to the timbre effect they were going for of Lindsey and Stevie singing together, it’s obvious that it wasn’t smooth, tight harmony like CSN&Y, the Birds, the Everly Brothers, the Hollies, or the Motown R&B or doo wop groups. It was more like slightly rough and sloppy roots or country, or some Buffalo Springfield and Moby Grape or even early Grateful Dead, with pedal tones and piercing electric guitar lines. Lindsey and Stevie aren’t really super-tight in the classic harmony sense. They’re both “feel” singers. So . . . Buckingham Nicks is like Ian and Sylvia mixed with Moby Grape. Did you guys ever hear Tommy Luxem cover “Races Are Run”? Tim ’n’ Jess cover “Long Distance Winner”? They make you appreciate Buckingham and Nicks. Thoughts about breaking out in Birmingham. Why Birmingham? Just because one DJ decided he liked the album and started playing it a lot? That led to sold-out concerts? What if other DJs across the country had also started playing it a lot? Buckingham Nicks might have been an overnight sensation. Remember that Mick Fleetwood liked what he heard. You just had to hear it first. Imagine what could have been had people heard it in 1973–74. Something would have happened, I have no doubt.

Someone posted this video of clips of S&L over the years:
What is going on at the :20 mark? Clearly a Tusk photo shoot, but I've never seen that footage (Stevie in rust-colored blouse) before..... https://twitter.com/hourlylindseyb/s...49455037915217

This band and its members hold the record for "missed opportunities".
Also - in the liner notes of the Buckingham Nicks album, I have always wondered about the spelling of Stevie's name. The liner notes spell her name as "Stevi Nicks". Was this a misprint, or was that the way that Stevie was spelling her name at the time? If so, at what point did "Stevi" decide to become "Stevie"? By the 1975 Fleetwood Mac album, the spelling is changed. |
