Christine McVie produced by Buckingham
Here is a new one that I don’t think has been discussed before.....What Fleetwood Mac songs of Christine’s prior to the 1975 of Lindsey’s arrival to the band would you think his production would have made it a just that much more.......you know.😎

I have always wanted Christine to re-record Come A Little Bit closer with Stevie and Lindsey for the incredible harmony back in the day. However, the original track needs preserved and would not want Lindsey doing anything on Heroes album. Its really hard to pick because I appreciate the era prior to Lindsey too much. I love Lindsey but each era is to be appreciated for what it is. OMG changes to Why? Would you make changes to the Mona Lisa? The Scream?

I would have loved Lindsey to have produced Christine's 1984 solo album. Although she would have not felt "solo" enough to rely on the band. But that would be my choice. I think he could have made her solo effort better.

It would have been the 1984 Fleetwood Mac album. Christine’s best tracks from her solo album with Lindsey and Stevie’s 1983 solo contributions the Mac would have had a great follow up album to Mirage. |

Believe Me and Just Crazy Love for sure. These are tight, well-executed pop tunes with above-average melodies. LB could have helped her lift them from good to great by giving them more imaginative arrangements. I feel this way about half of her 1984 solo album, too.
I don’t feel this way about her Penguin songs. They sound right just as they are. Earthy and organic with some sparkling slide guitar. Come a Little Bit Closer is a gorgeous song with a terrible arrangement. Those overblown drums, that are string ensemble, egads. If it was pared down to a simple piano and guitar, it would be far more moving. |

OF COURSE Lindsey would improve any of the production(in our collective, twisted, FM minds), but 1984 is a very good album. The LB/CM collaborations have always been the BEST part of FM.

I wonder why Richard and/or Ken weren't asked to do it?

Dick Clark asked Christine on American Bandstand in 1984 why she did not produce her own solo album. She said she wanted someone to blame in classic Christine humor.
I think if you use too many Mac members and producers then maybe it does not feel like a solo effort.

I love Show Me a Smile from Future Games- its a beautiful, gentle little number. However, I've always thought there was a much better song waiting to get out. I have no doubt Lindsey would have been able to turn that into something magical. It would be interesting to know what he would have done with Spare Me a Little of Your Love. I think that could have been a hit single. Also in agreement about the Christine McVie album. His production would have been a much better option.
