Default Is this Fleetwood Mac?

There is a bit of a divide, many ledgies consider Buckingham/McVie Fleetwood Mac ...and a rose by any other name smells just as sweet...others buy the story that this was always going to be a duet album regardless of Stevie's movements.

It didn't sound like Fleetwood Mac to me until I heard Red Sun. Feel About You I love but it sounds like Christine solo featuring Lindsey.

So I'll try to add a poll.

Christine, Lindsey, John, and Mick play on the album, so it's a Fleetwood Mac album, just without Stevie.

It was always a Fleetwood Mac album, no matter which member of the band was absent, so yes, it's a FM album.

Do we know for sure if Mick and John play on EVERY song? Have the liner notes been transcribed yet?

If they DO play on every song, then YES, I would surely call this a Fleetwood Mac record.

However, if they only play on a handful of songs (and Lindsey or other people do drums/bass on the other songs) then I would call this Buckingham McVie with Mick Fleetwood and John McVie as guest artists.

Guess we'll know for sure on Friday.

yes, pretty sure we do, they said so in every single interview so far.

I'd have to say yes because all the musicians are present. Stevie is an integral part of FM, but not the be all and end all in this band.

John and Mick alone makes it Fleetwood Mac. Having Lindsey, Christine, John and Mick on the album really seals it. So if Say You Will was called FM, than this album should have been called the same.

I don't see how Mick, John, Christine, and Lindsey can play together and sing and it not sound like Fleetwood Mac. The album sounds very much like Fleetwood Mac.

It's not Fleetwood Mac, it's Buckingham McVie, besides. If it was FM all these threads should belong in the post-rumours section of this forum.

In my opinion it's another Lindsey solo-album, with contributions of Christine's songs ...

So the years that Christine was gone weren't Fleetwood Mac...

Thanks for clearing that up.

Not anymore than the SYW era.

Half the songs are hers, and Mick and John play on most of it. It's really not much different than TITN. I don't think you understand what "solo" means.

Yeah this argument that people are presenting that this is a Lindsey solo album, clearly don't know his solo work that well. When he is solo Lindsey generally plays all the instruments, only layers his own vocals ext. Yes i know he has had Mick and John play on tracks that were in the past intended for Fleetwood Mac. But this assertion that this album is a Lindsey record and that Chris is "guesting" is so offensive to the rest of the members of this band, almost denying their legacy and musicianship that runs though this band like no other.

I think the original GoS was recorded in a way that allowed flexibility as to how it could be released, given the changes at the label that began in 1994.

I completely agree that calling this a glorified LB solo album is an insult to the others, but it also ignores the fact that it started out before Christine returned as a Fleetwood Mac project AND it ignores all of the writing credits on TITN.

TITN vs. LB/CM (excluding Stevie, including B-sides):

TITN
LB: 3
LB/RD: 1
CM: 1
CM/EQ: 1
CM/LB: 3
CM/LB/EQ: 1

LB/CM
LB: 5
LB/CM: 3
CM: 2

Yes it is a Linds solo album with some songs from from Christine. Just as SYW was a Linds solo album with a Stevie solo album grafted on. Not that that is a bad thing at all. It just means that a lot of us will either skip through many tracks or only buy some tracks rather than the whole.
