Exclamation What songs do you consider to be hits from Tusk?

Can't really do a poll with this album, so post/discuss the songs you feel are hits from Tusk and SHOULD NOT be in the contest.

I suppose for the actual voting, I'll have Christine and Stevie in one poll and Lindsey's in another with the winners in the final poll.

Please state clearly what songs you feel are hits as I will keep a running tab of those votes.

Yeah, we pretty much gotta go with these three singles. Funny how low a profile "Think About Me" has, though. Only performed a few times in concert, not on the radio these days, and never included in compilations. Personally, I love it.

I agree with every word of this. The song is probably one of the most perfect radio singles the band ever released. I mean, it was just totally made for that format. It's a shame the song relatively flopped, and is unknown now to everyone but the most hardcore of Mac fanatics these days.

Sara and Tusk are the only real hits off Tusk, tho... with Sara being less so than the title track. They are both signature Mac songs, but Tusk is one of their definitive songs, for sure.

Funnily enough, I actually heard it on the radio in Denny's a little over a year ago. I was surprised yet pleased.

I agree, too. Think About Me is in my top 10 FM songs. It makes every "my hits" compilation. It's just plain pop rock perfection.
"Every every ONCE in awhiiiiillllle".

The most magical of FM singles, IMO, were the Chris/Lindsey duets. Think About Me, Hold Me, Don't Stop(even though y'all hate it).

I share the love for Think About Me and wonder if it would be a different story if it had been released as the first single. That maybe would have taken a bit of the edge of Tusk when it first sent shockwaves over the radio in '79. I'm really surprised that Sisters of the Moon didn't do better as a single but by mid 1980, Tusk had run of out of steam despite the long tour to support it. The world wasn't ready for the brilliance of this album back in '79, but I'm not really sure which era it should've landed in, maybe right about now

from wikipedia:

The album gave the group two US top-ten hit singles, with the Buckingham-penned title track (US #8/UK #6), and the Stevie Nicks composition "Sara" (US #7/UK #37).

Further releases from the album, "Not That Funny" (UK only single release), "Think About Me" and "Sisters of the Moon" were less successful; however, the latter two appear in their 'single versions' on the 2002 compilation The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac.

singles - charts:

Year Single US UK AUS
1979 "Tusk" 8 6 3
1980 "Sara" 7 37 -
1980 "Think About Me" 20 - -
1980 "Sisters of the Moon" 86 - -

Sara - 6
Tusk - 6
Think About Me - 4

...assuming that louie and elle are saying Think About Me shouldn't count as a hit.

Kinda a tricky album here with 20 songs and not many "radio" hits, and with this album being very popular here on the Ledge.

Good point made about Think About Me being the forgotten "hit". I like it as its one of the songs that showcase the Christine/Lindsey dynamic, a la Don't Stop/Hold Me.

"Think About Me" made it to the Top 20 -- not sure why it wouldn't count as a hit alongside "Tusk" and "Sara."

it reached #20 - so it would have to be in if you are taking top 20 or top 40 charting singles as some people were arguing for as main criteria.

[from the perspective of how known these songs are today, still kinda funny to count Think About Me as a hit, and SHN as non-hit, isn't it? ]

Hello. That would be me. And, again I would say Top 40 is the industry standard.

So, "Think About Me" would qualify as a hit. Even if more people know SHN - Elle. It's not THAT funny is it?!?
