Default Does anyone else wish it wasn't "Oh Daddy"

Oh Daddy is in my top 2 or 3 Chris songs of all time. Its just so perfect in so many ways. Chris's haunting vocal, the awsome instrumentation (especially Johns bass) And for the most part, they are awseome lyrics. My only complain is the phrase Oh Daddy. Oh Baby maybe could've worked. I know its about Mick and how he was the only one in the group with kids, but the phrase still annoys me but in the end doesn't effect my love of the song.

Anyone else agree.

I love the title Oh Daddy. Fleetwood Mac have plenty of songs with the word baby in it. Daddy suits me fine.

I used to think there was something gross about the usage of "Oh Daddy"... I mean, c'mon... it just screams incestual rape! But I adore the song so much, that I could never think of it being named anything else.

Actually, the whole "Oh daddy" phrase is what keeps me from enjoying the song. It's just, bleh!

Yes, I love this song. I remember Christine singing it on The Dance tour and it is extra special because of that last tour. And I love how Stevie and Lindsey come in and sing their parts, both on the record and live. The song makes me happy and it makes me sad at the same time whether it's studio or live.

Only if you look at the song in a sexual sense, which to me seems strange.

We all know it isn't, we know its meaning, its about Mick, so why the problem?

I myself am a father and rather like the song and title.

This is one of those songs that grew on me over the years. I too am not crazy over the "daddy" part, but I like the song anyhow. The only complaint I have about it is how it was used during "The Dance" tour. The song was done right after "Stand Back". BAD set placement. Stevie just gets done ripping the roof off the place and then Christine brings the mood WAY down. The excitement in the venue was huge after "Stand Back" and then Christine comes on and does a great performance but it was too stark of a transistion.

You're right, that was bad placement...I always thought a swap of "Oh Daddy" and "You Make Loving Fun" would have made that flow better.

I know what Christine has said about the song and I think there's a nod to Mick in it, but I also think it's a song to a lover. In fact, to me, the paternal slant is much less obvious than the one that can be perceived in Landslide.

Absolutely not, before i knew what the song was about, it was my father and I's song. We'd sing it in the car together - brings me to tears!

I've always thought this, too. It clearly sounds like an apologetic song to me... like Christine has messed up with a lover. What could she have ever done to apologize to Mick Fleetwood for? She was undoubtedly his most reliable rock within the band. She provided the radio hits. She was the glue the kept the band together. There's more to the back story of Oh Daddy than we know.

I think the title suits the overall feeling of the song,
I mean if you think it about as that Chrisitine is a little girl, but Mick is some guiding giant - who want's the best for his maclings
