Defective cd?

Just listening to Mirage and noticed that my cd player emits a high pitch shrill noise from the disc. It's driving me crazy!

It stops at about the 2:00 minute mark of track 7 (Empire State). I've tried playing the cd in a different player and it does the same thing. Does anyone else have a Mirage cd that does this also? or has anyone ever experienced something similar or have a disc that does this? The noise doesn't affect the playback, so if you play the cd loud enough you don't hear it or if you have head phones on. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my cd?

Same here. I think it's just because it's a crap transfer... The tape and LP seem okay to me, though.

Thanks for replying! I was almost ready to go out and buy another one but it wouldn't have done any good. You saved me the expense of buying another one.

It's almost like this noise is encoded right on the cd! How could they let this pass? If this ever gets remastered I hope they catch it then!

Yea I don't understand why out of all the CD's released of FM at that time Mirage was such a crapy transfer. Look at the pre-B/N albums...crystal clear...great quality! But not Mirage! lol
