Question Are there any bands/artists that you can not stand or really dislike?

For me:
KISS
ABBA
Bruce Springteen
Lil Wanye
Slayer

I'll probably think of more when it's not 12:30 in the morning.

Maroon 5
John Mayer (unless he's playing blues)
Creed
Nickelback
(other bands with lead singers who do bad impersonations of Eddie Vedder)
Jimmy Eat World
Dashboard Confessional
Blink 182
Muse
Within Temptation
Train
Staind
Papa Roach
Fallout Boy
Good Charlotte
Evanescence
Placebo
Puddle of Mudd
3 Doors Down
Five for Fighting
Katy Perry
Taylor Swift

I don't dislike Coldplay but I do think they're often boring. Of course to each their own and vive la difference.

For me, it's got to be Rhianna. I cannot stand her. Her voice, her songs, her attitude - all of it sucks big time. She's also everywhere all the time...GO AWAY, woman!! She seriously makes me want to scratch off my own ears to avoid listening to her.

I also really strongly dislike Taylor Swift and Lana Del Ray. The latter of which has to be one of the dullest, fakest people on the face of the planet. And her entire album sounds like one, long, monotone song from start to finish.

I really cannot abide N Dubz or Tulisa either, but I don't think they're very well known outside the UK.

A few controvertial ones: The Smiths, Coldplay, Madonna post-Ray of Light, Marilyn Manson, Lifehouse

Probably the two that are the most popular that I dislike are U2 and Dave Matthews Band. Matthews' voice is incredibly annoying to me.

Bjork is a genuius. I also love Blondie. 2 artists listed there that I can't imagine my life without. Weird how we're all brought together by 1 band, yet our tastes outside of that vary so dramatically.

I don't like threads like this, because no one likes to see their favorite bands put on someone elses **** list.

That said, I cannot stand Bjork. Aside from any kind of scream-metal (hate it), she's the one artist - the one singer - the one musical presence that makes me want to claw my own face off.

So, other than Bjork and any kind of scream-metal, I can find good, redeeming qualities in any music from any artist.

Bjork......you say genius....I say who strangled the cat. But such is the beauty of music.

Will as most of you know .I will make it easy.

Any music produced plus artists in the last 23 years stinks.Except a few good artists.

As they say the industry is dying .Will start producing good music instead of this mindless sheet.Maybe they will sell more music instead of the freeloaders downloading the sheet for free because its not worth the dime.

People illegally download just as much "good" music as they do "bad" music.

And the overarching issue is that there is no inherently good or bad music.

They music industry makes what sells. What sells right now is autotuned, generic dance-pop, and then a few slightly less unoriginal popular artists like Lana Del Rey and Adele. And folk stuff, like Mumford & Sons (which I find terrible despite liking folk music but that's just me) is also starting to get bigger in the mainstream..

This just isn't true. I'm 40, and some of the best music I've heard in my life is from the last 15 years. It all depends on what you're exposed to. There are plenty of artists making great rock and roll and pop music that isn't autotuned, that isnt crafted by teams of writers, that is singer/songwriter quality material. You just aren't hearing it because it's not what is *popular* right now.

If you really want new music, from new artists, that isn't that Katy Perry/Bieber crap, there's plenty of it out there. You may not have the same tastes I do, but check out The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Silversun Pickups, Kasabian, James Morrison, Ray LaMontagne , Amos Lee - you'll never find great newer artists if you don't give them a chance, and you're *not* going to hear them on the radio or MTV.
