Default Big Love

If I'm not mistaken, the first time he did the awesome acoustic version of this was on the Out Of The Cradle tour, correct? Talk about a great move!

I think it was a gradual change that took place over time (Yes durring the Out of the cradle tour)

He was also doing a go insane acoutsic version (althoguh immensly superior to the dance version) as early as 1992

Yep. It was the opening number (followed by the solo acoustic "Go Insane"...again, just like on The Dance). What a way to open the show!

Disclaimer carried over from the other thread: And, Tom, I like Lindsey's playing & style solely for what it is...I just don't think he's "all that" compared to other guitarists.

I gained a true apprecation for this version when I had a chance to be in the front row for Fleetwood Mac in San Diego in '03 nad I was right in front of Lindsey. I paid special attention during Big Love watching him play, and I didnt think a man could move his fingers so fast!

I thought this version was utterly amazing and a really good example of thinking "out of the box". For years I loved to hear it. Now it's like a record that is stuck. Sure it's gotten faster over the years but it turns me off now which is a shame because it's incredible.

Right now I really want to hear Fleetwood Mac perform Big Love in it's original electric arrangement live. I don't believe it's ever been done.

Yes! Completely superior to The Dance. I liked the poem intro he read before playing Go Insane.

I love my Westwood CD of this show (first night of tour). I met his family in SF when he performed on the OOTC Tour at Bimbo's. Sitting next to our table and proud as ever.

His band was hot. hot. hot.

Sardonic World

The world was calling you away
and your leaving was just your way
of staying with what you'd come to say
This pain is the poem slowly written
torn from the book
and cast into a corner of the attic
where no one could look
This rage for all to see
caught fire and burned all around me
till their was nothing left to burn
Now I stand alone in these attic bones
and reread that poem all yellowed with age
Tears heal such as healing is
so I cast that page into the flame
And there is no blame, only shades of regret
And those too will fade
as the world calls me away.

It's quite a powerfull poem leading into the lyrics of Go Insane

The acoustic Big Love on Soundstage is extraordinary. It sort of ... explodes into your ears.
Amazing.

Not seen the soundstage yet. Still waiting for its release but the song still does it for me. I still find palying it quite a challenge and I dont have the consistency or ease that Lindsey has when playing it. I guess it's just practice but that is THE song that got me into learning guitar.

As I mentioned earlier. Lindsey has been playing guitar for 47 years. It takes time!

If it takes you less than a couple of years to learn that song note for note you are doing very well in my opinion

The poem is fantastic, however on one of my boots from the OOTC shows, he seems to be reciting the poem in a pseudo.....British accent....anyone else heard this or know what I'm talking about?

I'll of been playing 2 years this jully. I can't learn a song by ear and I've never had a lesson. I learnt by just watching the dance and other guitarists on DVD's play (plus a book to learn the basic open chords, barre chords, scales etc)

I leant Big Love through tab to be honest. I can play it pretty well but only sometimes (mopre often that not i screw up half way through and I don't have a cuttaway on my classical)

Like i said though I do play guitar for quite a few hours a day, I do have the privalidge of being able to play electric, steel string acoustic or nylon strun acoustic and learning big love was my sole aim so i'm not really as some of my friends have made out etc. I think its all down to practice more than anything else. Some people are naturally good at learning thigns by ear others are wuicker learners than others but really its all down to practice.

I think it's a shame there banning TABs on the internet I really do.

Never heard anything about this. The four Tab sites I've always used are still up & running just fine.
