Default Lindsey's influences on his records

I was just thinking today how many of Lindsey's albums appear to have a certain musical influence shaping the material. For example:

Tusk - punk/Talking Heads etc
Law & Order - his dad's old 45s/music from the 40s & 50s
Go Insane - Laurie Anderson/Fairlight sampling

I'm not so sure about Out Of The Cradle, but I know he wanted to make that album more guitar orientated but was also influenced by older music or standards...

Am I completely off track here or can this be applied to any of his other albums?

If I am right, maybe I should send Lindsey some cool albums to help influence the direction of his next LP... I wonder what I should send him hmmm

lol! But that would just be a Mac album!

I'm gonna send Lindsey some hardcore gangsta rap.
His next record will see him sporting a huge fur coat and plenty of bling, including a heavy gold ring that spells L-Buck in diamonds.
The album will be called Yo Ho's Insane! Once again about Carol Ann obviously...

Oh good one! Yes that makes sense perfectly

I also saw a OOTC era interview today where Lindsey was talking about how he was trying to write like the Tin Pan Ally songwriters on the album, so there's another influence.

Hmmm, I think this theory is beginning to hold up, but I need more help!

Any influences for Buckingham Nicks or Tango?

I guess Rumours main influence was heartbreak.

Gaw, I don't even know all about the Mac, now I have to listen to millions of other musics, too? Um, send him a Cars album. I'm just saying this cause last night i DL'd CARs greatest hits, cause about a month ago I realised i really like them. Does Lindsey have to have a concrete musical inspiration? I guess so...

Heart Lindsey influence

Morning everyone!!

I should be in the shower getting ready for work but I had to add my.02 cents (american that I am...)
Remember that Lindsey toured with the Everly Bros. He has that kind of early 60's kind of rock abilly harmony edge
Remember Diana from Mirage...the whole Tusk albulm was influenced by Mr Wilson (as I recall Christine was dating him) Listen to- Honey Hi- Farmers Daughter -obviously, but also Brown eyes and then there is the edge in Lindsey's voice, but many simple sweet harmonies on that albulm..
Gotta dash-
hugs,
~~eclipse~~ wish I could stay...

Christine dated Dennis Wilson not Brian. However I believe that Brian had a thing for Stevie.

The older standards heavily influenced Lindsey in practically all his work. You hear elements of the harmonies of Sons of the Pioneers, or vocal stylings of crooners like Mel Torme or Frank Fontaine, in many, many Lindsey tracks.

I think a strong element of nostalgia runs through the music of the '40s & '50s for Lindsey. It seems to remind Lindsey of his dad & of his own formative years in what seemed to be a stable nuclear family.
