Question idiosyncratic

I've been wondering about it for quite some years now, this funny word idiosyncratic pops up alotof times I read a Lindsey-connected review or article. It's an adverb I never read unless our man is involved. No online dictionary can help me out on the translation, so I don't know if there's a Dutch word for it.

You all must have read this very often, too. Besides translation, do you think it's an appropriate typecasting of Lindsey's work/vocals? And how
idiosyncratic is he? Are there more idiosyncratic songwriters/performers? ( I don't have a clue what I'm talking about, this is hilarious )

I guess you could describe his finger-picking style to be idiosyncratic, however, that style is not really limited only to Linds. For some reason I always attiribute the term "idiosyncracy" to mean odd, little habits that are offentimes unique and associated with certain people. I'm sure he has a sh*t load of idiosyncracies when it comes to his laborious toiling in the studio...I'd love to be a fly on the wall during that process.

maybe I have different dictionary than you, Gerald?
idiosyncracy: eigenaardigheid=> typerend kenmerk.
That what is typical, recognizable, different about one certain person?

i understand, but that counts for a lot of artists.
it's just very odd that this typical adverb is used for LB, and now i come to think of it alittle more, it is used for a guy like david byrne, too.
Not for everybody who is eigenaardig.

I've seen the word "idiosyncratic" used for fence-stragglers like Buckingham and Byrne who have their commercial artistic sense and the penchant for the unusual very much in balance in their work. So those who experiment all the time are not considered idiosyncratic, they're flippin' lunatics instead.
