Default About that crystal ball

I don't remember if this was asked before.

The crystal ball (from Rumours, The Dance,) appeared at first in the 1975 white album cover. Is there a story about that ball? Why they included it? I don't remember any comment in Mick's book. Actually I don't know how or why they did that cover. Mick said they used the ball again in Rumours, like following the good luck from the previous album, but don't know why they used it before.

Well Chris' mom was psychic and supposedly said fleetwood mac would find their future on orange grove which is where Stevie and Lindsey were living at the time...so yeah Chris-tal visions. Perhaps they included it as a symbol that the band was fated to meet...destiny rules...goes to find ipod and play "maybe we were together..."

I think it was just an artsy move. Any talk of it symbolizing the bright future might be motivated purely from hindsight.

The Heroes cover (done by the same artist) as well as the Mystery cover are equally strange an open to all sorts of "readings."

Supposedly all of the albums featuring the crystal ball on the cover went to number one. I read this somewhere around the time The Very Best Of Fleetwood Mac (featuring just the crystal ball on the cover) came out.

Yes but they didn't know White album would be N.1 when it was released, so I'd agree with aleuzzi, then since Rumours they maybe expected a top album. Humm.. then Mirage and Tango was sentenced to just a top ten

I agree also because the 70s was an age when symbolism, mystical stuff, myths (aliens built pyramids, mayas were the Atlantid, etc..) were very popular, so it's not surprise about mystical, symbolic album covers

I remember at high school I discussed a lot about the meaning of Styx's Cornerstone cover

The "cornerstone" was the inner slave with weird symbols..

I am not sure about the UK. If Tango In The Night went #1 there, then awesome, rightly so. Tango is a great album.

I am still hoping for those remastered Mirage and Tango albums.

The crystal ball is on The Dance as well. It's also on Bella Donna.

Me too. Mirage is such a great record that just sounds flat on CD.

Mirage I can take or leave. Tango remastered would be sweet, though.

Heart Cyrstal Balls

I read an article on some board about Stevie and the photo's were taken in her living room in California, I believe.
On one of the tables is just a crystal ball .......(no holder like on bella donna, or rock a little) just a ball
She claimed that it was "the ball used on the Rumours album..." She didn't mention the White album.

But we all know how Stevie's memory can be . I would like to think it were true-Rather sentimental/mystical that she carries it around from home to home-
But would Mick really give her the "lucky" crystal ball????
And did she use it on her two solo albums-
Or was that a different ball. If anyone knows the REAL answer, Please share

I have a collection of crystal balls-well I call it a collection I ony have a few
but they are all different sizes and in different holders.
(They are VERY expensive, so my collection is only up to four (4), as we speak)

I love them
