Heart Puppies!

My Dad's Rottweiler, "Makita", gave birth to 10 puppies on April 15. Unfortunately, only 7 of them have survived, but they're all healthy and are some of the happiest, fun-loving puppies I've ever been around.

They're 6 weeks old now, and they will be adopted in the next few weeks. So, I wanted to make sure to get some cute pics of them. I think I succeeded ("if I do say so myself").

Here is the first pic -- I'll post more later on after I've re-sized them for upload.

With everything negative that's been going on in the world for the past few months, I hope this cheers everyone up a little.

Here's a pic of all 7 puppies. They follow each other around the backyard just like you see them here -- in a pack! I love how the first puppy in line has his tongue out. And if you look in the middle of the pack, you'll see that one poor pup has fallen, and the others simply plow right over her.

Here's my Dad, with the pups in the backyard. Behind them is my Dad's goldfish pond, which he built (but shhhhhhhhh ... don't tell the city inspector's ... he refused to pay for a permit! ). The pups love to get a drink from the pond, then usually start barking like crazy at the goldfish when they swim up to them, thinking it's time for dinner.

This is Makita, scratching her back. Thankfully, the pups are weaned now, and her nipples *should* begin shrinking back to normal. Let's hope so -- she's dragging the ground at present...

Oh my gosh they are SOOOOOOOOO adorable. My cousin and her husband have a Rottweiller and her name is Mako (yep, like the shark). I love that breed. They're incredibly sweet and well tempered dogs despite the size they grow to be. Too cute....thanks for posting!!!

Sorry to hear that! I know it doesn't really compare, but I've been a little bummed that the puppies won't be living with us for much longer. And they're not even technically my dogs!

But I don't guess that really matters, especially when I'm sitting in the grass playing with them, and they're ALL fighting and scrambling to get up into my lap. And they're in the needle-teeth phase now -- you wouldn't believe the scratches, gnaw scrapes, and shallow puncture wounds I have all over my hands, forearms, calves, feet, and toes. It's not wonder their mom runs and hides whenever we let them out of their pen.

Those are some great-looking pups.
I have several books on dogs, though I don't own one. (I'm hardly home.)
A co-worker years ago once decided that each person at work matched the personality of a dog breed, and that I was a Rottweiler. (Shut up, Marissa.)

My favorite puppies are Shih Tzus (I grew up with one), Keeshonds, and Samoyeds.
I love the cold weather breeds.
