Will you see it?
Have any of you seen (or are you planning to see) United 93? It's supposed to be an excellent film, but I don't know if I'm ready to see it yet.

I don't think I'm going to see it, at least not in the theatre. I don't think I could sit through it just yet. If I do ever see it I will wait for it to come out on DVD. Everybody I've talked to has said the same thing, that it would be too painful to sit through.

I am unsure if I can see it. I respect the right to make it and applaud what appears to be a fair if not very good depiction of it. I just am scared to "relive" that day in that manner. Then again, I am not one who goes to movies that make me cry, though some unexpectedly can - like when Gandalf reared his horse (Shadowfax) at the rising of the sun and brought troops to save those in Helm's Deep. I wept openly at the thought of good triumphing over evil in such a majestic way. But, heartwrenching things like United 93 will surely be for me, are just not my cup of tea. Having said that, if my other wants to go, I will go - ah compromise

No, but I will see "Stick It". Isn't that worse?

I dunno.. it seems way too soon for films to be made about that stuff. Maybe in 20 years, but 5? It's not like the age group who would be seeing this movie know nothing about 9/11.
I don't think I'm going to see this one. I'll spend my money on The Notorious Bettie Page, methinks.

I'll wait for video and even then, maybe. I don't have a problem seeing it. But I think we all know all too well what happened, I don't need a hollywood dramatization and good looking leads to play the pivotal roles.
I'm a bit annoyed the release came out as Zacarias Moussaoui's trial is underway. |

I'd like to see it. But as a Canadian, 9/11 probably didn't hit me in the same way. I mean, I was in the 8th grade, and I remember my mind being blown. But I can only imagine what it would feel like in one's own country.

I often feel like there's a gratuitousness to how 9/11 is/was treated. I might be in the minority, but I felt that all the calenders and coffee table books that came out after the attacks "commemorating" the tragic event somehow felt like capitalism at its thinly veiled worst. I'll get off my soapbox now. Agreed too that the Notorious Bettie Page looks like a better way to spend a Friday night.

I am very curious about this movie. Especially after hearing/reading some of the reviews (though I rarely if ever pay attention to reviews). I think they wanted to make this movie before people became complacent about 9/11 - which is already happening. And I think that they wanted to memorialize what happened in a way that a few statues and walls cannot. So I'll probably go see it..or rent it when it comes to DVD. |

A couple of my friends saw it and said it was terribly depressing. But my respose to that was, "Well what did you expect, Captain Kangaroo?!".
I would like to see it though. |
