A good part of the factions can be directly attributed to an endless number of interview comments made over a period of decades that spark polarity. The fans may have come to hate each other independently -- they always do. I'm sure Spock and Kirk fans hate each other somewhere. But in FM's case, statements by the persons involved have always been made to spur and reinforce the antagonism. In fact, we're actually living in an age where the negative comments are
fewer now than they have been in the past. So, enjoy it.
