I noticed the same thing, and was even wondering if it was not just a piped in track that he was lip syncing to, but perhaps a vocal pedal, tweaking his voice in real time. As a vocalist in a band myself, I've got a few effects pedals with gender settings, basically just slow-mo'ing or chipmunking your voice at extremes, with everything in between possible, and they can be applied very easily live.
