In 1981, they were four years from “Rumours” and Stevie had a #1 album that sold millions of copies and Lindsey had a #32 album that sold 350,000 albums, even with a Top 10 single. Same year, same band. If Lindsey was responsible for their success, then why did his album sell so poorly compared to Stevie’s?

That said, because he never worked with anyone else, he never got beyond being just a member of a specific incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in the public’s mind. Stevie was able to be seen as a viable entity in her own right outside of Fleetwood Mac. Sure, she sounds amazing with Lindsey and Christine, but also Kenny, Tom, and Don. Lindsey is the only one who never had a viable career outside of the Rumours band.
