The legendary band Fleetwood Mac was at the Hallenstadion about two and a half hours a comeback concert. Despite numerous hits from the late 1970s, she succeeded only partially, to attract the audience from the reserve.

The concert began full and sec The drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie pointed the piece "Second Hand News" with rolling game soon to be launched and peppy about the song "The Chain", which sounded muffled. Lindsey Buckingham played his guitar and rough croaking like an old bluesman, the poignant chorus howled like once with CCR. And Stevie Nicks fascinated in their mysterious piece, "Dreams" by musing, grouching and self conscious singing.

Full voltage stimulus

There was of course no coincidence that Fleetwood Mac with the same three songs from "Rumours" began. The album is released in 1977 with 40 million copies sold of the most successful albums in music history. And it is clear that the timeless character of hits it contains is not only driven by the excellent craft of three profiled songwriters also come from different musical traditions of England and the United States. The exciting appeal of these songs is due in large part to one another on the intricate relationships of the musicians that they processed in their pieces. "And if you do not love me now, you will never love me again", yes Lindsey Buckingham sang in the play "The Chain". And later took in the concert Stevie Nicks touching the hand that had left him then.

Lindsey Buckingham emphasized the qualities of the soon published in 1979 follow-up album "Tusk", which was demanding but also less successful. Before the band played four songs from it, he explained, musicians should not rest on a hit formula. Actually showed especially the title track also live with a drunken forward storming horn section that these songs were musically sophisticated and daring than those of "Rumours", especially when you consider that the punk had just conquered the charts. The group has failed on this album, however, try new knitting patterns. The previously played song "Sad Angel" only underlined this, especially since it was the only new song that night.

Especially with more atmospheric songs such as "Sisters of the Moon", the group succeeded less and less to maintain the musical tension, although by a keyboardist, a guitarist and a - was supported Drummer - hidden gambling. In particular, Stevie Nicks lost their initial enthusiasm and sung with "Sara" almost phlegmatic. Also missed the one in the original releases so charming voice of Christine McVie, which should have had no desire to make a comeback, which is why some of the data from their hits were missing in the program. Instead of two background singers would have been better engaged a second lead singer.

Much applause for Classics

Stevie Nicks had before, "Without You" warning indicates that the notes would be to take much longer than the piece itself. And indeed, she tried unsuccessfully for several minutes to explain why in 1975 the decisive reorientation of Fleetwood Mac came when she and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band formed in 1969 based on this song. The latter took over the leadership of the increasingly show of Stevie Nicks and let feel how important are some songs for him again and again. This was particularly impressive when presented solo piece, "Big Love" is the case, that very well describe the person he once was. Meanwhile, he was only an echo of it, the change is just very important.

Musically, it was felt but little. Two thirds of the songs played came alone from the three albums released between 1975 and 1979. However, this is likely the expectations of 7500 spectators have fully complied with in gestuhlten Hallenstadion, who were mostly over 50 years old. Most applause were for and against closing the classic "Go Your Own Way" and "Do not Stop". The latter convinced not only thanks to the ravishing choral singing, but mainly because the band interpreted it with enthusiasm rather than nostalgic lethargy. Finally, it is said in the piece, too: "Yesterday's gone, ooh, do not you look back."
