What a disgrace. That's like saying that North American history didn't begin until the signing of the Declaration Of Independence. The author could have simply stated the focus of the article was on the band's most popular incarnation without that lame cheap shot. He was probably too lazy to go out and actually listen to any of the pre-1975 stuff.
