but weren't the two tours extremely similar musically? I mean, if I grabbed a random sound file from 1990 of "The Chain" or "Little Lies" or "Don't Stop" or "Go Your Own Way" & another random sound file from 1987 of the same song or songs & played it for everyone here, who would be able to tell the difference (except by a lucky guess)?

The Chain '87 sounds like The Chain '90. Little Lies '87 sounds like Little Lies '90 (although the former might have been slightly cleaner). Don't Stop '87 sounds like Don't Stop '90. Go Your Own Way '87 sounds like Go Your Own Way '90.

The only reason I can really choose the '87 tour over the '90 tour is that Stevie's stately lethargy was brand new in '87 & therefore left a more memorable impression on me. By 1990, I knew exactly what was going to happen on that stage up there at Cal Expo, in terms of what the band would look & sound like.
