I know what you mean on EFO, but I don't hear it on the other songs you mentioned, (Illume and DR). To me it works on Everybody Finds Out because it gives the vocal a clinical, distanced sound that matches the lyrics. It's like the patient is being observed by a detached doctor, nurse or narrator, taking notes, while monitoring her decline.
