Actually though, I'd consider myself to be a pragmatist, with a healthy dose of optimism thrown in for good measure.
As for Sheryl's contributions to the album... I doubt it will be anything obtrusive. I don't think it's going to be a "Fleetwood Mac, featuring Sheryl Crow" kind of deal, like it was with Rob Thomas, et al., and their contributions to Santana's last two albums.
It'll probably just amount to some tasteful backing vocals, and some keyboard parts that might not even be noticeable to the average listener.
I'm sure any concerns people have about her being on the album, will be assuaged once they've heard the finished product.
(Uh oh, there I go being optimistic again!)
