This arrangement does mean that you don't have to release the trem ( more correctly vibrato ) arm to let it drop out of the way, in order to change pick ups ,You could even continue to hold the tip of the arm whilst changing Though I assume you never bothered with a trem arm Jeremy -I don't recall seeing you use one ?!
Perhaps this was the reason why Jimi Hendrix used an overturned right handed Strat ,when he could easily have bought a left handed one .!
It's a similar problem with a Bigsby unit on a SG, because of the position of the PU selector switch .Also this switch goes up and down whereas it might be more logical if it went front- back .
