I would say that's true of myself. Very rarely do I like a happy song. I mean, I like Don't Stop well enough.
But I hate a song like
Joy to the World or
I Just Called to Say I Love You, or
Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand. The last thing in the world I want to sing about is bonding with my fellow man or telling someone
You Light Up My Life.
The best thing about SYLM for me is that when he says it he's LYING. I like her acknowledgment of the deception. If he wooed her until the sun came up and
meant it, it wouldn't hit me in my sweet spot.
