The Mr. and Ms. thing is probably in that publication's style book (a set of rules for the writers to follow so that there is consistency in usage in the entire publication), so it's probably not the writer's choice.

As for the 20%, at first I thought that he was referring to all the members of Fleetwood Mac during the entire history of the band. But for that to work, there would have to have been 10 members of FM over time (2 out of 10 = 20%), and as we all know there have been quite a few more than 10 official members of this band over time. So who knows what he really meant. Maybe he meant 40% (of the current incarnation) and nobody caught the mistake.
