Same here-my dad was a union guy-he worked for the railroad. And my Mom brought me up to idolize the Kennedys!
Now here's the interesting part-my parents are both Southern Baptists--but as they interpret the Bible, they believe that Jesus taught us to care for our fellow man,and they just believe that the Democrats ideals speak more to that than the GOP and brought me up to believe the same. But they find themselves biting their tongue a lot in church and in social settings, as I do, because of the whole brainwashing that the GOP has done here in the South. Someone actually said in my Mom's Sunday School that you couldn't be a Christian if you voted for John Kerry because he supported Abortion & Homosexuality! I honestly don't know how the Democrats are ever going to be able to take our country back with the brainwashing that the Repugs have done on such a wide swath of our population!
