NOW is the perfect time for a canny music lover to grab a piece of Byron Bay's Rock and Roll history with the venerable Byron Music shop in Jonson St up for sale.

Owners Craig Potter and Leonie Fulton are both trained teachers and are planning to head out west to re-activate their teaching careers.

The shop itself has been in existence for nearly 30 years and the couple have owned it for the last 8 ½ years.

This is only the second time in those 30 years that the shop has been for sale.

"We are looking for a change of pace and lifestyle and are hoping to land positions out in a remote desert community," said Leonie.

The shop is never short of interesting and famous customers including Jack Johnson, Seasick Steve, Rodriguez and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin.

"We have even had impromptu jam sessions with original Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green, and Eugene "Hideaway" Bridges," said Craig.

"There is always someone interesting coming through."

Over their time as owners Craig and Leonie have seen big changes in the way people buy musical instrument with a shift into online buying.

"The tree has certainly been shaken in our industry and a few have fallen out," said Craig.

"We have adapted to the new way people buy, meeting online prices and living with the reality of peoples needs."

The shop is well known for its range of tasty vintage guitars and Fender Custom Shop Guitars.

"At the same time as having access to the high end Fenders we also sell entry level guitar and amp packages," said Craig.
