I don't think it
is "there", though. It's not "blackmail", it's just the honest and sometimes unpleasant acknowledgement of living in a capitalist society. After all, Buckingham Nicks didn't record another album because of low sales. Was their record company blackmailing us back then, too? I suppose you could argue the point, but I don't see it that way.
