In the BBC documentary about the making of Fleetwood Mac’s famous album, Rumours, Stevie Nicks says her one great regret in life was that she never got married and had children. When I got my coffee this morning, one of the Rumours tunes was playing in the background with Nicks singing, and I asked the barista if he knew what Stevie Nicks’s one great regret in life was. When I told him, he said in dismissive way (if I didn’t know my rock stars) that it wasn’t in character for her and went about making my drink. It surprised me. If the barista had been a woman, she would have known immediately what Nicks meant.
