I thought most of these bands had sold like half their publishing rights to companies like Kobalt in exchange for Kobalt taking on all the admin tasks and overhead costs of managing the publishing portfolio.

FM does still own the publishing rights. But you could be right that they have someone else administering it for them. Like a landlord would have a property manager actually renting the units to a tenant.
