Great find! Thanks for posting – the article shines a light in an otherwise dark corner of Green’s discography. I’ve long felt that this was among his best work from this time period.
His work on Brian Knight’s “A Dark Horse” is also quite strong and it is unfortunate that he could not have done more session work in a similar vein.
Sessions such as these, where he was a “hired gun”, brought in to play, but having no other responsibilities, perfectly suited him at this time, and brought out his best, much as his session work immediately following his departure from Fleetwood Mac, found him turning in some of his most focused, beautiful and powerful work for Country Joe MacDonald and Peter Bardens.

As to John’s comment, I feel that this was one of the few times (with the eighties recordings) where the label or any of those involved did not try and exploit Green’s name/fame. See The Enemy Within for what real exploitation looks like.
