'Identified' is probably the wrong word. 'Affinity' maybe. Sorry if it was wrong context.

Says 'I lived in Australia for 14 years so to be considered one of them, I just find it really kind of lovely.' That seems like speaking for himself, in a sense.

However I do think it's important to recognize that his heritage is New Zealand, that's his country. Same with Dragon, Jenny Morris, Russell Crowe, etc. He's obviously very proud of that heritage too. I just don't think he's real sensitive about the issue of classification.

(I'm feeling a little more hopeful now that this may work out. If not, then it's not what he deserves after a fine career.)
