Happy Birthday, Mike Vernon
Producer Mike Vernon was born on this day in 1944. Vernon is one of the unsung heroes of the British Blues boom on the 1960's.
Working first as a freelance producer for Decca Records and co-publisher of an influential Blues magazine, he is responsible to bringing many established American blues artists to a wider (English) public and after establishing Blue Horizon Records, providing an outlet for Britain's homegrown blues talent.
As the only producer that Peter Green had worked with, with the exception of the sole single from the Peter B's, until the release of "Then Play On", Vernon's importance in nurturing and developing Green's talent in incalculable.
