To be viable the band needs at least two
Rumors vocalists. So without Christine back, they couldn't have fired Lindsey without dissolving the band altogether.
I suspect the thought of forcing Lindsey out at least crossed Stevie's mind in 2014 when Christine returned. It may have been something she was planning to do for quite a while.
