I think fans of the band are annoyed that she's gotten three raves from journalists who don't appear to know the band beyond its hits and who applaud her (and them) for doing the same thing for decades. Fans want new music and creative change. Fans want growth. Because Stevie will not record new music with the band, she has come to embody, more than any of the three songwriters, the spirit of the nostalgia tours. So it's beyond annoying for some of us when she's celebrated for the very thing that keeps the band ossified. Plus the pointedness of the three articles in singling her out as "the star" seems more evident than usual, suggesting that the motive for mentioning it at all is to undermine the LB/CM that is very visibly going on concurrently.
What appears to be straightforward praise doesn't feel so straightforward.
