I think Lindsey wanted to either push back the tour or tour solo along side the Mac with new music of his own and prove to Stevie that the fans do want to hear new stuff and not the same old songs.
That is where the "lost the perspective" came from. And I think Stevie blew a gasket and Mick supported her and the crap hit the fan between Stevie/Lindsey. Mick made the decision to go with Stevie.

I absolutely agree new music played a part in this, however...now this new band has pushed back the start of the tour and are talking new music (I am doubtful we see anything new out of them--but they are talking about it)....SO, I guess that will give Lindsey the opportunity to say touche, to some degree. And they Stevie will be forced to answer the question "So when you said fans don't want new music, what you really meant was YOU just didn't want to create new music with Lindsey?"
