Don't give up on it!! Strings don't cost THAT much!! I was tuning my guitar when I first got it and my B string kinda snapped, and I THOUGHT I had broken it...but I didn't, I loosened it all the way almost and re-tightened it, and it sounded better!!
SO, just go buy an $1.00 string (that's about how much my B string cost..nuttin at all!!)
