Yes, this is what I thought of her voice on
Miranda. Since Miranda was going crazy, Stevie's voice on that song kind of enhanced the sense of schizophrenia. This other voice whispering or chanting. It added to the detachment from reality.
And yes, by the time we get to the end of
Miss Fantasy, when Lindsey is singing alone again, you can get the impression that she's receded into memory and is no longer with him. Can't go back.
