Actually it is pretty clear Lindsey had agreed to tour on FM timetables prior to the decision. Thus the instant decision to settle.

Lindsey is an arrogant ahole who probably got some of what was coming to him. But he is the principal sonic architect of all the writers’ songs since 1975. To act like this is a better band without him is just pure lunacy or maybe jealousy.
