it's a case of good people get screwed. he didn't ask for producing credits for years. he didn't ask for co-writing credits for years. he just did the work and hoped his coworkers would appreciate and acknowledge it. then sometime around Mirage he realized they never will. so he started asking for some producing credits at least. that earned him ridicule from some quarters for being "self-important" genius.
now he learned they will never appreciate anything he did but happily take the products of his labor and throw him under the bus. and use the facts he didn't ask for credits to say, yeah he's just someone who's been in a band for a bit, among thousands of other incarnations.
maybe karma will catch up with bad people. maybe it won't.
